Take part in the creative challenge of Play In A Day as part of Alberta Culture Days 2026!
Gather a team and create an original play from concept to performance in just 24 hours. Participants will write, direct, and perform a brand-new production inspired by a surprise theme, prop, and costume piece revealed at the start of the event. No previous theatre experience is required, making this a fun and welcoming opportunity for performers of all ages.
The event concludes with a free public showcase where family, friends, and special guest judges can enjoy the original productions created throughout the day.
Event Schedule:
- Friday, September 11 – 6:00 PM: Teams receive their theme, prop, and costume piece at King Street Theatre.
- Saturday, September 12: Teams spend the day creating their play.
- 5:00 PM: Teams return to King Street Theatre.
- 7:00 PM: Public showcase performance.
Important Information:
- Open to participants of all ages.
- No previous theatre experience is required.
- Scripts must be original. Published scripts and AI-generated scripts are not permitted.
- Plays must be family-friendly and appropriate for all ages.
