Business of the Arts: Taxes for Artists

Tax season can be overwhelming, especially for artists and creative entrepreneurs managing self-employment income, deductions, and reporting requirements. Arts Council Wood Buffalo, in partnership with the Canada Revenue Agency, invites you to a free online webinar designed to help artists navigate the tax system with confidence.

In this session, the facilitators will:

  • Answer tax-related questions, including income tax, GST/HST, and payroll considerations
  • Discuss business tax deductions relevant to artists and creative professionals
  • Explain common tax errors and provide financial benchmarks for the arts industry or a comparable sector
  • Provide an overview of helpful tools and services offered by the CRA
  • Explain general bookkeeping concepts and best practices for managing your finances effectively

Following the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain clarity on key tax issues specific to their artistic practice. Whether you’re a full-time artist, freelancer, or balancing multiple income streams, this session will equip you with essential knowledge to better manage your taxes and financial records.
