Workshop Opportunity: Intro to Stage Combat

Swamp Rat Experience is pleased to present this 3 hour two-day workshop, an introduction to unarmed stage combat. It will give the students a basic understanding of the concepts of stage combat, leaving them with an understanding of how to develop a stage fight using a variety of concepts and techniques.

The concepts we will explore include sight lines, distance, knaps, reactions, safety rules and a step by step framework to properly execute an attack. By the end of the workshop you will be able to perform a fight or physical action on stage realistically and – most importantly – safely along with having a greater understanding of what it takes to develop a fight for the stage. You will walk away with the knowledge how to build a fight with all aspects of a theatre performance in mind.
