Rock the Rails is Fort McMurray's Action Sports, Music and Craft Beer Festival. Taking place Friday, June 6th and Saturday, June 7th the weekend will feature dozens of hand-picked punk rock, metal and alternative bands from throughout Fort McMurray, Alberta & the world. While Rock the Rails is open to other genres, the main focus is on music that fits within the skateboarding & action sports lifestyle.
The internal team will select a minimum of 1-2 artists via this platform. Performance slots begin at 5:00 PM on Friday and 2:00 PM on Saturday. This year, the festival is experimenting with a new "Bands as Bands" format on Friday, and keeping the standard festival to Saturday. Exact set times will be confirmed in late April.
 Selected artists will receive
- Social media announcement with logo and brief bio, and your band name on the Rock the Rails lineup poster
- A $500 cash honorarium
- If travelling from out of town, 2 double hotel rooms. (Additional rooms/nights considered for bands travelling further than 6 hours)
- Access to gear share, where possible, with drums and amps.
- Opportunity to set up merch at the festival (no fees/percentages taken by us).
Selected artists must :
- Provide Headshot, logo and bio (provided below - or get it to us prior to our lineup rollout in March)
- Provide your own breakables for drums (Snare, cymbals, etc)
- Be willing to travel to Fort McMurray, AB for their performance.
- Be on site a minimum of 90 minutes before your scheduled set-time to allow for load in and a sound check.
Deadline for submission is February 21, 2025. Organizers will inform all applicants whether they have been selected by March 4, 2025. Apply via the submission form.
