The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity's Spring Writers 2027 is a 12-day self directed literary residency designed for emerging and established writers who want dedicated time and space to focus on a writing project.
The residency provides participants with private studio space, opportunities for one-on-one mentorship, optional faculty talks, and the chance to take part in public readings. Writers can use the residency to develop new work, revise an existing project, or deepen their creative practice in a supportive environment.
Who Can Apply
This opportunity is open to writers who:
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Have a demonstrated publication record
- Are working on a writing project in any genre
- Are comfortable working independently in a self-directed environment
- Will be completing their project in English
Canadian and international applicants are welcome. Writers who have participated in a Banff Centre residency within the past year are not eligible.

Scholarships & Financial Assistance
Banff Centre Arts Scholarships help reduce the cost of participation. Eligible Canadian Indigenous applicants may receive scholarship support covering 100% of tuition, accommodation, and meal plan costs.Â
