Residency Opportunity: ISCP Residency in New York Funding

The Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) ISCP Residency in New York Funding program provides Alberta professional visual artists, new media artists, and curators with the opportunity to participate in a three-month residency at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in Brooklyn, New York.

This residency is designed to support artistic research, creative exploration, and professional development while providing participants with an opportunity to engage with an international arts community.

Who Can Apply

Applicants must:

  • Be a professional visual artist, new media artist, or curator.
  • Be an Alberta resident for at least one full year prior to the application deadline.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Person with an eligible work or study permit.
  • Meet the Alberta Foundation for the Arts' eligibility requirements and be in good standing with the organization.

Funding

Applicants may request up to $18,000 to support participation in the residency.

Eligible expenses may include:

  • Residency costs
  • International and local transportation
  • Accommodation
  • Meals and per diems
  • Other reasonable expenses directly related to completing the residency

The program supports one three-month residency each year at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in Brooklyn, New York.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online through the Alberta Foundation for the Arts' Grant Administration Tracking and Evaluation (GATE) system.

Applicants are required to submit supporting materials, including:

  • A professional artistic résumé or curriculum vitae (CV)
  • A detailed project description outlining the proposed residency activities and objectives
  • Images or media samples of recent work
  • Any additional documentation outlined in the program guidelines

Application Deadline

  • September 1, 2026.

Applications must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. (Mountain Time) on the application deadline date.
