Call for Submissions – Found Festival 2023
Edmonton’s celebration of place and space is seeking site-specific installation and performance works! Found Festival 2023 (July 6-9) will be activating public spaces throughout Old Strathcona and beyond for four days of exciting, interactive, and innovative arts.
We take art out of conventional venues directly into the community. Found Festival celebrates art of all kinds: theatre, dance, film, poetry, music, sound art, installation art, endurance art… if it’s art created for unconventional spaces that challenges the artist/audience relationship, there’s a home for it in Found Festival.
Projects may be of any discipline: Theatre, poetry, music, dance, visual arts, literary, or all of the above!
All projects are encouraged to apply, however the following are being prioritized for curation in 2023:
- Interactive installation projects;
- Theatre projects with existing development/workshopping/production history; and
- Video/digital projects.
Projects that consider community impact, integrate use of found space and/or are informed by their desired locations, and consider the performer relationship to audience are ideal fits for Found Festival. You don’t need to know an exact location, collaborators, or production logistics yet – we will help selected projects get connected to spaces and resources to pull their ideas off!
Selected projects will receive an artist fee (typically ranging between $1,000-$4,000), production support, mentorship, and Festival infrastructure support (marketing, box office, etc). Selected artists who are eligible will receive hands-on support in submitting applications for the March 1 Edmonton Arts Council project grant deadline.
Apply by written submission, live pitch, or video by February 13, 2023.
