About

Anna Pottie (@heymrspottie) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Wood Buffalo, Alberta. With a lifelong love of thrifting and collecting overlooked objects, she finds creative spark in the discarded and the secondhand; transforming found materials, text, and imagery into new forms of expression that celebrate reinvention and play.

Anna’s personal art practice centers on mixed-media collage and assemblage, combining thrifted textiles, magazines, and everyday materials into layered, tactile compositions. Her background in graphic design and digital illustration often influences and informs the structure and tone of her personal projects – and vice versa.

Her work has been published in NorthWord Literary Magazine, featured on the cover of the Arts Council of Wood Buffalo’s 2024 Annual Report, and exhibited locally, including the Collective Threads exhibition (2025). Beyond her visual work, Anna is also a writer, with articles and editorials published in Watershed Sentinel and Your McMurray Magazine between 2013 and 2022.

Anna continues to expand her creative range through learning from others in the creative space, exploring photography, ceramics, and poetry as ongoing extensions of her evolving practice.

Anna also serves on the Boards of the Arts Council of Wood Buffalo and the Northern Canada Collective Society for Writers.
