Arts Council Wood Buffalo (ACWB) is launching Beyond the Buffys: A Creative Legacy, an eight-week crowdfunding campaign inviting the community to invest in the arts and be part of a vibrant, year-round movement of creativity, connection, and local pride.
Running now through August 31, the campaign aims to raise $10,000 in support of year-round artist development opportunities. Hosted through Crowdfunding Alberta, contributions will be matched 50% up to $5,000; meaning that if the community meets the $10,000 goal, a total of $15,000 will be reinvested into Wood Buffalo’s arts sector.
More than just a fundraiser, Beyond the Buffys: A Creative Legacy offers donors the chance to receive exclusive perks and become active participants in a healthy and growing creative community. Contributions support artist-driven initiatives that provide professional and creative development opportunities while fostering meaningful connections between local artists and the people who live, work, and play in our region.
“This campaign is about building something lasting,” says Liana Wheeldon, Executive Director of Arts Council Wood Buffalo. “By investing in this campaign, community members are helping to make Wood Buffalo a place where the arts are not only created and celebrated, but also viable as a business, an economic driver, and a leader in community revitalization.”
Supporters can claim exclusive perks at the upcoming Buffys 2025 celebration on October 18, 2025, a highlight event honouring artistic excellence in Wood Buffalo. Tickets for the Buffys are now on sale, with early bird pricing available until the crowdfunding campaign concludes, offering a perfect opportunity to support local creativity while securing a seat at one of the region’s most celebrated arts events.
