Auditions: They Say it Takes Five Years

They Say It Takes Five Years directed by Jenny Price is a new work in development by Wood Buffalo writer and humorist Carla White about community, well being, and the journey of healing through all of life’s drama, trauma, and shitastrophies. This production will culminate in a staged play reading at the Heritage Shipyard on Thursday, September 8 at 7 PM, as part of Alberta Culture Days 2022.

Auditions will take place in person at Suncor Energy Centre for the Performing Arts (230 Powder Drive) on Friday, August 19 at 6 PM - 8 PM and Saturday, August 20 at 11 AM - 1 PM & 4 PM - 6 PM.

This opportunity is casting ages 14 and up.

When auditioning, you will be asked to read sides from the script in a group with other folx auditioning. The sides will be provided at the audition. The Director will be there to guide you through the process and might ask you to read for several different parts during the audition.

Sides (also called audition sides, script sides, or acting sides) are pages from a script that directors give to actors to to them as part of the audition process. Sides are a portion of the script, typically just a couple of pages selected from one or more scenes.

You do not need to prepare anything for this audition.

Carla White is a humorist, writer and playwright who explores ways of using comedy and laughter to help with trauma healing.
