The Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) Film and Video Arts Scholarship awards $7,000 annually to a young Albertan film and video artist who demonstrates exceptional artistic talent and clear educational or training goals. The scholarship is intended to support emerging artists pursuing formal education, workshops, mentorships, or other eligible training opportunities in film and video arts.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must:
- Be 25 years of age or younger at the application deadline.
- Be an Alberta resident who meets the AFA residency requirements.
- Be enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, an eligible film and video arts training program.
Eligible training may include:
- Undergraduate studies in film and video arts
- Recognized workshops, mentorships, master classes, or courses focused on film and video arts
Graduate programs are not eligible.
Scholarship
One scholarship valued at $7,000 is awarded annually to support the recipient's education and artistic development in film and video arts. Applications are assessed based on artistic merit, the applicant's educational and career goals, the impact of the proposed training on their artistic development, and their achievements and experience in the film and video arts.
Application Deadline
- March 1, 2027
Applications must be submitted through the Alberta Foundation for the Arts' Grant Administration Tracking and Evaluation (GATE) system no later than 11:59pm (Mountain Time) on the application deadline.
