Canada Council for the Arts: Short-Term Projects Grant

The Creating, Knowing, and Sharing: Short-Term Projects component supports First Nations, Inuit and Métis individual artists, cultural carriers, groups, collectives and organizations undertaking artistic or cultural projects lasting up to one year.

Funding can support a wide range of activities, including:

  • The creation and development of new artistic or cultural work
  • Community-based arts and cultural initiatives
  • Exhibitions and performances
  • Workshops and knowledge-sharing activities
  • Research and artistic exploration
  • Collaborations between artists, Elders and Knowledge Keepers
  • Artistic production and presentation

Projects should contribute to the vitality and growth of Indigenous arts and cultures while supporting self-determined artistic practices and community priorities.

Eligibility

Applicants must be one of the following:

  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis individual artists
  • Cultural carriers or Knowledge Keepers
  • Indigenous artist collectives
  • Indigenous organizations
  • Indigenous-led groups

Applicants must also meet the Canada Council for the Arts' eligibility requirements.

Notification of Results: Usually within 4 months of the application deadline.
