Create a one-of-a-kind hanging sculpture in this hands-on workshop with 2026 Artist in Residence Lori Claerhout. Using paper, wire, and simple sculptural techniques, participants will explore shape, movement, weight, and balance while constructing a multi-level mobile inspired by Lori’s artistic practice.
Participants will cut and assemble paper forms using scissors and shape cutters, then learn how to balance and suspend them using flexible wire and hand tools. Throughout the workshop, learners will experiment with composition, spacing, and motion, creating a finished mobile that is both playful and visually dynamic. Participants can expect to leave with a three-to-four-level mobile of their own design.
No prior experience is required, and all primary materials will be provided. Participants are also welcome to bring their own paper, drawings, or pieces of writing to incorporate into their work for a more personal touch.
Food will be provided.
