Posting Date: January 31, 2025
Deadline: March 31, 2025, or until all opportunities are claimed

Project Description

Arts Council Wood Buffalo (ACWB) is looking for local literary artists to participate in a new project, Words & Birds Wood Buffalo

Participating writers will be invited to create poetry inspired by the themes of wild birds, flight, and nature. Poems may be written in any style and can either focus on a specific local bird or birds, or take a broader approach to explore the connections between birds, flying, and the natural world.

About the Theme

Words & Birds Wood Buffalo celebrates the vibrant connection between visual arts, literary arts, and nature, by focusing on the beauty and symbolism of our region’s wild birds. This theme invites both visual and literary artists to draw inspiration from the graceful presence of wild birds, exploring their connection to flight, freedom, and the natural world.

Participation Requirements

ACWB welcomes participation from both established and emerging artists. Participation in Words & Birds Wood Buffalo is open to any artist living within the Wood Buffalo region.

Participating literary artists are invited to submit one written work for inclusion in the Words & Birds exhibition. Works should be submitted digitally in a PDF document. ACWB will manage the creative display of the submitted written works, ensuring that the integrity of the work is maintained. Writing will be featured both in-person at the exhibition and online on the Arts Council Wood Buffalo website.
