ABOUT THE ARTWORK
My work of art for ACWB represents nature, joy, peace and grace. All the things I hope for Elder Alice Martin. At this time, I was inspired to create something filled with natural elements as I understand that Alice loves to be outside. I picture her surrounded by children, flowers, rocks and grasses on the shores of Lake Athabasca. I wrote a poem that I hope resonates with her. I imagined her dreaming these kinds of dreams when she was a child. Children often say, “When I am older”. Now that Alice is a senior and a respected Elder, I hope that she is old enough to have had the experiences represented in the poem and on the artwork.
