Call for Visual Artworks: We Heal, an Exhibition
YMCA Wood Buffalo and Arts Council Wood Buffalo Arts Recovery Project are looking for 2 dimensional, 3 dimensional and literary artists in Wood Buffalo to submit their work for consideration for the show “We Heal, an Exhibition” running May 2 to May 8, 2019 in the Keyano Art Gallery.
The theme for the exhibition and the submitted work should reflect artists post-wildfire journey to healing.
Submissions
- Digital photographs of work must be received electronically by Sunday, April 14, 2019 6pm
- All documentation and information must be in one email and sent to [email protected]
- Must be a resident of Wood Buffalo
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Maximum of 3 pieces per artist for consideration
- All pieces must be created after May 3, 2016
- Must be created independently
- All work must be accompanied by a short paragraph stating how this speaks to your journey to healing
- Originals only, no prints will be accepted
- The artwork provided is original artwork and is the sole intellectual property of the artist with no copyright infringements. Please refer to the following link for clarification
2 Dimensional Artworks
- No larger than 5’ x 5’
- Pieces must be framed and ready to hang, with wire settings
3 Dimensional Artworks
- No larger than 2’ W x 2’ L x 5’ H
- Must hang or stand independently
Literary Artworks
- Poems no longer than 400 words
- Submitted as a word document
Submission Deadline
Digital photographs of artworks must be received electronically by Sunday, April 14, 2019 6pm
Selection Process
- The selection committee will consist of non-exhibiting jury members from YMCA, Arts Recovery Working Group and a community member
- Successful submissions will receive notification on April 23, 2019
- Labeling information will be provided at that time.
- Selected entries will receive a $50. honorarium
- Selected entries will be dropped off at the Keyano Gallery between noon and 6pm on April 30, 2019
- We Heal, an Exhibition will run from May 2 to May 8, 2019
