Call for Submissions: Burlington Waterfront Sculpture Trail 2027

The Burlington Waterfront Sculpture Trail (BWST) is inviting submissions from emerging and established artists across Canada for its 2027 outdoor exhibition in Burlington, Ontario.

Taking place from April 10 - May 31, 2027, the trail will feature approximately 60 temporary sculptures and 10 large-scale or interactive installations along a 2.5 km route connecting Spencer Smith Park and downtown Burlington.

The exhibition is designed to bring contemporary sculpture into public space and encourage audiences to engage with art in new and unexpected ways.

Who Can Apply

This opportunity is open to emerging and established artists from across Canada. 

Eligible works may include:

  • Open-air plinth sculptures
  • Covered plinth sculptures
  • Large-scale installations
  • Interactive installations

Video, digital art, and sound art are not eligible for this call.

Artist Fees 

Selected artists will receive an exhibition fee based on the type of work:

  • Open-air plinth works: $1000
  • Covered plinth works: $750
  • Large-scale or interactive works: $5000-$15,000

Artists are responsible for transportation and material costs associated with their work.

Submission Requirements 

Applicants must submit:

  • A short artist or collective biography
  • A description of the submitted work
  • An artist résumé or CV
  • Images of previous work
  • Images of the work being submitted
  • A description of the proposed installation

Artists may submit up to three works for consideration.
